I am trying to find a movie that aired on tv (about 1996) that is about a Chinese girl and her boyfriend.?

I know two scenes: The opening scene is the chinese girl and her Caucasian boyfriend running into a tunnel which explodes and he appears dead. Later in the movie the girl has her own place and a chinese boyfriend who brings her red roses and goes off in her house to surprise her but her old boyfriend comes in with her favored yellow roses and switches them. The roses get swapped a few more times and eventually they all see one another and things go haywire. Also, the father of the girl wants her to have an asian boyfriend. Can anyone help me with the title of this movie?
