Crafts: Is all satin and silk the same?

Nope. SILK is a Fiber from the cocoons of the silkworm moth. SATIN is method of weaving any fiber into a lustrous shiny fabric. There is silk satin,. polyester satin, wool satin, cotton satin (usually called "sateen") polyester satin, rayon satin, acetate satin, nylon satin...any fiber can be turned into a satin fabric. And silk has different weights, different methods of unreeling the fiber from the cocoon and different treatments after the fiber is extracted. There's also wild silk from wild worms and farmed silk from worms raised in silk farms.
