I need help on dying a jacket black!?

i bought a jacket made of cotton and polyester i want it to be black so it looks like Kaku's jacket from One Piece. it came purple and i tried dying it with Dylon black dye but it only became a darker shade of purple. is there any possible way to dye it completely black?
